Kenneth T. Jackson is the Jacques Barzun Professor of History and the Social Sciences and head of the history department at Columbia University. The author of the prize-winning Crabgrass Frontier: The Suburbanization of America as well as The Ku Klux Klan in the City and many other books, he has taught New York City history for a quarter-century and is the general editor of the Columbia History of Urban Life.
